Electrician Ascot
Licensed electricians working Ascot’s pre-war housing: rewires, switchboard upgrades and the electrical side of a renovation. Priced before we start, certified when we finish.
The electrical side of an Ascot renovation
Ascot houses are old and heavily renovated, which is a harder combination than either on its own. Most of what we do here is rewires and partial rewires, switchboard upgrades sized for how the house runs now, and the rough-in and fit-off work that keeps a renovation out of surface conduit.
Switchboard Upgrades
A tired switchboard is a fire risk, not just an inconvenience. We replace it with a compliant board built to handle whatever you plug into it today, quoted at a fixed price before we start.

Old wiring under new renovations
Ascot’s housing stock is old and it has been renovated a great deal, which is a harder combination electrically than either one on its own. It’s common to find three or four generations of wiring sharing the same roof space in one house here: original rubber-insulated runs that have gone brittle and shed their insulation, a 1980s extension on its own circuit, and whatever the most recent renovation added on top. The switchboard usually tells the story before we get into the ceiling, and smoke alarm compliance is nearly always part of the same visit.
That’s why we quote Ascot work off an inspection rather than a phone call. A partial rewire that deals with the original circuits and leaves the sound ones alone is often half the cost of a full rewire and gets you to the same place safety-wise. You can’t tell which one you’re looking at without opening the board and getting into the roof space. Ascot is one of the suburbs we cover, ten minutes from our base in Albion.
Licensed electricians working Ascot and the inner north. Fixed pricing quoted off an inspection, compliance certificates, and a team that turns up when they say they will.
You get the number before we start, not after. No hourly creep.
A booked window we actually keep, and a call if anything moves.
Issued and sent, not chased. It is your proof the work was done properly.
How it works
-

Tell us what you need. Photos of the switchboard help more than you’d think.
-
Step 2We book you in
A fixed price and a time window, confirmed before anyone leaves the depot.
-
Step 3Installed and tested
Tested, certificate issued, and the site left the way we found it.
See the standard we work to
Every photo here is our own work, not a stock library. Boards mid-upgrade, cable runs before the linings go back on, and finished work you would never know was there. On a renovation the photos taken before the walls close are the ones worth having.

Rewire and renovation questions
What people ask before committing to a rewire, which is rarely a small decision. Call us and we’ll tell you honestly which end of the range you are at.
How do I know if my house needs rewiring?
Age on its own isn’t the test, plenty of old wiring is fine. Three things are worth acting on: rubber-insulated cable (it goes brittle and crumbles when disturbed), cloth-covered flex at light fittings, and a switchboard with no RCDs at all. If you have all three, it’s a rewire conversation. If you have one, it’s usually a smaller job.
Can you work on a character-protected home?
Yes. Brisbane’s character and heritage overlays mostly affect what can be seen from the street, which means external fittings, visible conduit and facade lighting need more thought. Internal work is unaffected. We’ll flag anything that might need approval before we quote it.
Can you work to our builder’s program?
Yes. On a renovation we want to be in twice: rough-in before the linings go on, fit-off near the end. Give us the program and we’ll book both around it.
