Most of the work here is out the back
Hendra is big blocks and big houses, and a surprising amount of the work is out the back rather than inside. Shed and garage supply comes up constantly, not a power point run off the house, but a proper sub-main from the main switchboard, sized for what’s going in and terminated at a small board at the shed end so the shed can be isolated on its own. Then pool and pump circuits, floodlighting, driveway and gate power, and EV charger installation in the garage or carport.
Close to Doomben and Eagle Farm there’s also equipment and stable work, which brings its own requirements: hose-down environments need the right IP rating and RCD protection, and anything in a wet or dusty area has to be specified for it rather than just weatherproofed after the fact. It’s worth getting right once. Hendra is one of the suburbs we cover, and the big blocks here are worth quoting on site rather than over the phone.

What we turn up to
Every photo here is our own work, not a stock library. Boards, sub-mains, outdoor circuits and the trenching nobody enjoys. Hendra work is often the far end of a long block, which changes the cable before it changes anything else.
Shed, pool and outdoor questions
Nearly every Hendra enquiry is about getting power somewhere it currently isn’t. These are the three that come up first.
Can you run power to a new shed?
Yes. It’s a sub-main from the main switchboard rather than an extension off an existing circuit, with cable sized for the load and the run length, protected at the house end, usually with a small board at the shed so it can be isolated separately. Tell us what’s going in it and we’ll size it once, properly.
How far can you run a cable to a shed at the back of the block?
Further than most people expect, but distance costs. The longer the run, the bigger the cable has to be to keep voltage drop inside limits. On a large Hendra block that difference is real money, so it’s worth telling us the distance when you ask for a quote.
Is outdoor lighting something we can add later?
Yes, but it’s cheaper while the trench is already open. If you’re doing shed power or a pool circuit, running the lighting conduit at the same time costs very little extra and saves digging the yard up twice.
